Newspaper advertising used to be the preferred method of advertising for many real estate agents. It has fallen out of favor with many real estate professionals but still has some very viable applications. Classified ads are probably the least effective mode of advertising a home for sale especially if you are a real estate agent with far more cost effective ways to market your properties and listings like the MLS and Internet websites. Newspaper advertising can be an effective media to use if you are advertising rental properties. Particularly when you are looking for tenants for low income or even higher end rental properties you can make a big splash with classified ads. The key is to keep them small and run them only on the weekends. This is when people shop for rental properties and take the paper. Most people who are shopping for a rental home or apartment do not have a subscription and therefore are not looking for rental homes. Most people whoa are looking for a home to purchase are not looking for it in the paper. If they do they certainly are not going to take the time in the morning before work to read through the classifieds to fin d their dream home and even if they are they are bargain hunters bound and determined to find a home without the assistance of a realtor. If you have multiple rentals to market that are similar in size and price the newspaper can be a great way to convert those renters into multiple property lookers. If the single property that you are advertising does not work for them for whatever reason you can convert them into another property that might be more appropriate. If you are a large company with a large advertising budget then you can buy the front page of the homes classifieds and split is among you r agents. Other than that scenario and the rental property scenario there not too many reasons to advertise a realtor listed home for sale in the newspaper.
